Abstract The goodnessbased management is a system built upon both Chinese and Western philosophies and management practices. From an ideological perspective, it is a novel management theory that combines the rationale of management and humanities. At an operational level, it guides the pursuit of the unity of moral principles and happiness through exploring the good in people. The goal of goodnessbased management is to explore the true meaning of management by integrating the Chinese and Western philosophies, through which we hope to solve the paradox in the development process and construct a goodnessbased organizational and societal culture. The proposed system contributes to the understanding of value of goodness and summum bonum in our life and pursuit for happiness.
