Abstract Based on expectancy theory and social exchange theory and in the background of formal employment contract deficiency, this paper explores the relationship between migrant workers’ perception of psychological contract fulfillment (PCF) and history of psychological contract breach (HPCB) and their job performance (JP) focusing on mediating role of met expectation (ME). We tested the model with data from a sample of 305 subordinatesupervisor dyads from 14 construction companies in South China. The results reveal that HPCB is negatively related to PCF, HPCB and PCF are significantly related to ME, and ME fully mediates the relationship between PCF and JP. In the final section, significance and implications of these results are discussed.
