Abstract This paper reclassifies CSR behavior into four categories, which are coerced, responsive, strategic and altruistic CSR from the perspective of postures and motivations pertain to organization’s character in CSR activities, and reviews previous researches based on the new typology. While previous studies have either simply stressed influences from external environment or internal conditions, this paper points out that the nature of CSR behavior is the result of reactions between the two facets and has to dynamically match firms’integrated strategies. Also, we establish the innovative CSR behavior strategy and corporate performance model, which is expected to serve and guide further research.
