Motivation of Academic Entrepreneurship from Different Countries Based on Content Analysis

Abstract  

Using the content analysis method,this paper tries to explore the motivation of academic entrepreneurship from different countries in three aspects,personal motives,research motivation and extrinsic motivation,based on literatures from 1988 to 2010.The results show that:i) the anticipation for wealth is the main driver of entrepreneurial activity in the academia;ii) scholars also value the availability of technologies;iii) scholars from different regions have different entrepreneurial motivation.
