The direct application of TOC to project management leds to the development of the ‘critical chain’ technique, and it has received wide attentions.Based on brief introduction to the critical chain, the paper argues that the influence of resource substitutability should be considered while identifying critical chain.The methods of identifying critical chain with the goals of minimum project duration and duration-cost tradeoff are put forward.Finally a scheduling example is given to prove the methods' validity.
