Abstract Based on social identity theory, this study builds a moderated mediation model to explore the mechanisms and boundary conditions of responsible leadership on employees’ counterproductive behaviors and turnover intentions. Using 2 time points survey data of 875 employees from 77 companies, the research results suggest that organizational identification mediates the relationship between responsible leadership and employees’ counterproductive behaviors and turnover intentions. Ethical climate negatively moderates the effects of responsible leadership on employees’ counterproductive behaviors and turnovers intention via organizational identification.
