Research on the Nonlinear Mechanism of Leader Narcissism’s Influence on Subordinates’ Voice Behavior |

Abstract In order to solve the dispute in the mainstream literature, from the perspective of supervisors’ narcissism trait, this study established a model of leader narcissism’s influence on subordinates’ voice behavior, and explored the mediating role of employees’ psychological ownership and the moderating effects of power distance orientation. The research results showed that: there was a inverted-U shaped relationship between supervisor narcissism and subordinates’ voice behavior, that is, the moderate leader narcissism could benefit subordinates’ voice behavior, and both low and high levels of leader narcissism could in turn diminish subordinates’ voice behavior; psychological ownership mediated the inverted U-shaped relationship between leader narcissism and subordinates’ voice behavior; power distance orientation moderated the inverted-U shaped relationship between leader narcissism and subordinates’ voice behavior the inverted-U shaped relationship between leader narcissism and subordinates’ psychological ownership.
