Abstract Based on the perspective of contingency, this study uses the structural equation model based on partial least squares (PLS) to analyze the effects of different types of communication on organizational performance and the regulatory role of the inter-enterprise interaction environment. The results show that: first, instrumental communication (task-related communication and goal-related communication) and social communication have a positive impact on organizational performance; second, the inter-enterprise interaction environment plays a regulatory role on the impact of ask-related communication and social communication on organizational performance; third, regardless of the interaction environment between enterprises, using more goal-related communication will produce enhanced organizational performance.
