Abstract enewable energy has become the focus of attention because of its environmental friendliness in the low carbon transition of energy industry. This study builds up the conceptual model and mathematical model for the effects of renewable energy technology absorption capacity on the performance of energy industry in China. We use yearbook data from 30 districts’ energy industry in China to emprically test the proposed models. The results show that renewable energy technology absorption capacity has positive impacts on the performance of energy industry in China, the impacts on economic performance is the biggest one, and the impacts on the environmental performance and innovative performance take the second place. The empirical findings provide us with valuable policy implications in development and management of energy industry in China.
