Abstract Peter Drucker has a huge influence in both academia and practice of management fields. Although many of his writings seem to be written straightaway and easy to understand, but because his writings involve many theoretical disciplines, coupled with his jumping thoughts, it is more difficult to grasp the full context of his thought for the readers. This paper traces the ideological origins Peter Drucker used to build his vast theoretical system management from the political and social perspectives. This paper argues that Drucker was not doing the research on management only for management, but “invented” management for the society and his political ambitions. It also argues, when the current Chinese economy and society is in an era of profound change, Drucker’s mission as well as his conscience as a scholar has a greater implication and far-reaching impact on China’s current management research.
