Abstract In this paper, the “content behavior” combination of external innovation search strategies is combined to analyze the relationship between the external innovation search strategies and innovation performance of new enterprises. The results of this research show that: local past knowledge breadth search, local present knowledge breadth search, the global past knowledge breadth search, global present knowledge breadth search have inverted U impact on the new enterprises’ innovation performance, and local past knowledge depth search, local present knowledge depth search, the global past knowledge depth search, global present knowledge depth search have inverted U impact on the new enterprises’ innovation performance.
