Abstract:This research adopts a perspective of knowledge leadership, aiming to explore how knowledge leadership affects knowledge withholding intentions of knowledge-intensive team members through its prosocial sense making mechanisms, namely, team goal commitment and knowledge-oriented prosocial impact. Theoretical hypotheses proposed were empirically tested by analyzing quantitative data from a two-wave questionnaire survey through establishing structural equation model. The results suggest that knowledge leadership and knowledge-oriented prosocial impact have significantly negative effect on knowledge withholding intention. Moreover, knowledge-oriented prosocial impact partially mediates the relationship between knowledge leadership and knowledge withholding intention, whereas the mediating role of team goal commitment is not significant. Nevertheless, the interaction of team goal commitment and knowledge-oriented prosocial impact negatively affects knowledge withholding intention.
