Abstract:As such, with the process-oriented method, the corresponding simulation models of V-mode assembly system and S-mode assembly system are built. Based on the models, the performance differences of supply chain responsiveness and operation cost between V-mode and S-mode are analyzed with stochastic customer demand. The results show that: by comparison, S- mode has more advantages over V- mode in responsiveness; V-mode is better performance in efficiency. However, in terms of responsiveness and operation cost, each mode is superior to the other mode under a certain condition, which is the reason why the V-mode and the S-mode coexist in practice. Then it is found that the condition in which V-mode / S-mode is more suitable for the assembly supply chain.
