Abstract: From the perspective of knowledge governance, taking three general contracting projects as examples for case studies, this paper discussed the synergistic mechanisms between project planning and knowledge integration within cross-functional project context. Based on the typical multi-case analysis, this paper not only identified the project planning process and knowledge integration process, but also examined the patterns of project planning during each project period, in order to construct a process model of dynamic synergy between project planning and cross-functional knowledge integration. It was found that the synergistic mechanisms between project planning and cross-functional knowledge integration vary according to the characteristics of content; the process gradually evolves from the contextual synergy at the initial planning stage towards multi-dimensional synergy at the latter implementation stage; during this process, the framework synergy of knowledge integration plays a core role with the output and project plan as the crucial barrier-crosser of cross-functional knowledge integration at the plan implementation stage.
