Preventive Effect of Wrist Movement on Venous Thrombosis for Patients with Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter

Abstract: Objective To explore the clinical effect of wrist movement on preventing venous thrombosis for patient with peripherally inserted central catheter（PICC）. Methods 240 patients with PICC from July 2016 to June 2018 were divided into control group and observation group, with 120 patients in each group. Routine nursing preventive measures were implemented in the control group, and additional wrist movement was performed in the observation group. The incidence of venous thrombosis in the 2 groups was compared. Results The incidence of venous thrombosis in the upper limbs of the control group was 10.8%, which was significantly higher than that of the observation group (3.3%) and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Wrist movement can help to accelerate the venous blood flow velocity of biceps and significantly reduce the incidence of venous thrombosis in upper limbs after PICC implantation.
