Current Status of Disaster Readiness of Junior Nurses and Its Influence Factors: A 376-case Study

Abstract: Objective To survey the current status of disaster readiness of junior nurses and analyze its influence factors. Methods With convenient sampling, a total of 376 junior nurses in 3 tertiary grade-A hospitals were selected and surveyed by using general information questionnaire, Nurse Disaster Readiness Scale, Career Adaptability and Nurse Perceived Professional Benefit Questionnaire. Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the influence factors of disaster readiness. Results The total score of disaster readiness was 159.97±44.10. Multiple linear regression showed that sex, disaster nursing experience, perceived professional benefit and career adaptability were main influence factors of disaster readiness(P<0.01),explaining 40.8% of the total variance. Conclusion Disaster readiness of junior nurses in the study is at a moderate level and more attention should go to female nurses, those without experience of disaster nursing and those with poor perceived professional benefit and career adaptability. Lowering work intensity by information technology and scientific planning of working time and workload will be helpful to provide more opportunities of learning and training for junior nurses. Disaster nursing model training to promote perceived professional benefit and career adaptability is conducive to the improvement of disaster readiness.
