Teaching experience of instructors of nurse specialist of wound care in Guizhou province: a qualitative study

Abstract: Objective To explore the teaching experience of instructors during the training of nurse specialist of wound care in Guizhou Province, to understand the effectiveness of and problems in the training, and to provide reference for further optimizing the training of nurse specialist of wound care. Methods Using purposive sampling, 8 instructors of nurse specialist of wound care were selected. A face-to-face semi-structured survey was conducted using phenomenological methods in qualitative research, and Colaizzi content analysis was applied to analyze the data. Results Three core themes were extracted, including the gains of trainees, challenges encountered during training, and reflections on optimizing training. Conclusion Guizhou Province has achieved some success in the training of nurse specialist of wound care, but there are still some obvious shortcomings such as the need to further improve the quality of teaching staff, varied levels of trainees, and imperfect training content. Therefore, relevant departments should pay sufficient attention to the problems in the training of nurse specialist of wound care, improve the training program, and enhance the overall quality of training.
