Effect of empathy map combined with scene teaching on nurse-patient communication skills in course of nursing humanities cultivation for nursing undergraduates

Abstract: Objective To explore the effectiveness of empathy map combined with scene teaching on improving patient-nurse communication skills for nursing undergraduates. Methods From September 2021 to December 2021, with convenience sampling, 190 nursing undergraduates were selected and students in class I (n=92) were taken as control group with conventional case teaching and those in class II (n=98) as experimental group with empathy map combined with scene teaching method together with conventional case teaching. The empathy ability and clinical communication ability of nursing students in both groups before and after the teaching were evaluated. Results Nursing students in the experimental group outperformed the control group in terms of empathy ability and clinical communication ability (P<0.01). Conclusion Empathy map combined with scene teaching improve the empathy ability and clinical communication ability of nursing students.
