Application of Continuous Nursing based on mHealth Technology in Cancer Patients with PICC

Abstract: Objective To explore the application effect of continuous nursing based on mHealth technology in cancer patients with PICC. Methods Using the convenient sampling method, 110 cancer patients discharged with PICC in a tertiary grade A hospital in Shanxi Province from February 2020 to March 2021 were selected as the research objects. They were divided into control group(n=55) and experimental group(n=55) according to the admission time. The control group was given routine continuous care, and the experimental group continuous care based on mHealth technology. The incidence of PICC related complications, compliance with catheter maintenance, PICC self-management ability, satisfaction with PICC special nursing services, and the time and cost of catheter maintenance were observed and compared. Results At the end of 3-month intervention, there were lower incidence of PICC related complications, shorter time and less cost of catheter maintenance in the experimental group(P<0.01). Catheter maintenance compliance, PICC self-management ability and PICC special service satisfaction were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion Continuous care based on mHealth technology provides timely, and safe continuous home care for PICC patients with catheter during chemotherapy interval with reduced catheter-related complications, improved self-management ability, less economic burden and higher patient satisfaction, which is worthy of promotion.
