Effect of Modified Closed Smoke Exhaust Method in Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy

Abstract: Objective To investigate the effect of modified closed smoke exhaust method in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Methods Fifty cases with laparoscopic cholecystectomy were divided into observation group and control group according to random number table method, with 25 cases in each group. The observation group was treated with modified closed smoke exhaust method, while the control group with traditional interval open exhaust method. The concentration of carboxyhemoglobin (COHb) at the beginning and the end of intraperitoneal cholecystectomy, the incidence of COHb concentration≥10%, clarity of laparoscopy (i.e. the number of exhaust holes and the number of wiping eyepieces with iodophor) in the same period (1h) and operation time were compared between the two groups. Results After intraperitoneal cholecystectomy and hemostasis thoroughly, the concentration of COHb and the incidence of COHb concentration≥10% in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.01); the number of exhaust holes and iodophor eyepiece wiping in the observation group was less than that in the control group (P<0.01), and the operation time was shorter than that in the control group (P<0.01). Conclusion For patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy, modified closed smoke exhaust method can reduce the harm of smoke to patients, increase the clarity of laparoscopy and shorten operation time.
