There exists a risk that some conceptual expressions in management research may become disconnected with management practice, as the precise specification of wording cannot be fully realized through simple translations and terminology databases. Texts can be translated into different languages and continuously endowed with meanings, allowing readers to understand life and achieve self-understanding and self-shaping through the world of the text. Based on textual hermeneutics, an analytical framework of factualness (including the perspectives of text translation and text deconstruction) and validity (including the perspectives of text connotation transformation and management discipline), is constructed to objectively analyze and distinguishing the controversial textual concepts. It takes leader humility in management as an example and deduces the above analytical framework. By reviewing the historical contexts of the introduction and influence of Christianity in modern China, this paper deeply compares the rationality of using Qianbei and Qianxun to describe leaders, and assesses the degree of match between the above two terms and leader humility. The conclusion is drawn that humility is the more appropriate to be translated into Qianxun rather than Qianbei when it used to describe leaders in Chinese language, especially in Chinese management context. The article provides a potential pathway for concept distinction in subsequent management research, and helps readers achieve self-awareness and self-shaping through conceptual texts.
