Abstract

rounded in media situational theory, this study investigates the impact of enterprise social media (ESM) communication visibility on employees’ organizational citizenship pressure through 290 survey responses collected in two stages. The findings indicate that both message transparency and network translucence of ESM communication visibility have positive effects on employees’ acquisitive and defensive impression management behaviors, with network translucence exhibiting a stronger impact. Furthermore, defensive impression management behavior positively affects organizational citizenship pressure, and network translucence positively influences organizational citizenship stress through the full mediation of defensive impression management behavior. Additionally, employees’ self-monitoring levels play a positive moderating role in the aforementioned relationships.
