Abstract Currently, both the academics and the practitioners call for indigenous research under Chinese context, while the indigenous management research still faces challenges including theoretical basis, scientific paradigm and methodology. The key to break the rocks is how to develop the indigenous management research in a better way. This paper tries to answer the question “How to conduct the indigenous research in depth?”. From the connotation and characteristics, this paper discusses the problems through two perspectives— traditional culture and contextualization, and propose the access of “Complement each other and work together”, “Part of Featured and General Universality”, in order to help the development of indigenous management research.
