Abstract This study investigated the impact of competence and growth work value (Competence) on innovative behavior from values perspective, and examined how the innovation climate and work autonomy shape the relationship between Competence and innovative behavior. Using paired survey questionnaires from 319 subordinates and 92 supervisors, the empirical results indicated that competence has a significant positive impact on innovative behavior; innovation climate and work autonomy have significant positive moderating effects on the relationship between competence and innovative behavior. Moreover, the interaction of innovation climate and work autonomy also have significant positive moderating effect on the relationship between Competence and innovative behavior.
