Abstract Based on the relevant researches review, this article clarifies conceptual nature of these two types of relationship, analyzes their similarities and differences in principles and ways of interaction and communication. Such as, the main traits of “renqing guanxi” are over rules, obligatory, particularism, asymmetry, “hu bao”, higher-affective and long-term orientation, whereas SER shows fit rules, freewill, universalism, symmetry, reciprocal, lower-affective, and short-term orientation. Furthermore, this study also explores the interaction effects of these two types of relationships on Chinese enterprises and their employees. It proposes an organizational integrated model of employee’s relationship preference and enterprise’s relationship management strategy. Finally, this article suggests possible future studies and researches in this topic.
