Abstract  Based on 949 samples collected from four rounds, the series of analysis revealed that the Zhongyong indigenous construct contains four dimensions: mean and congruence, personal cultivation,no ambition, and passive avoidance; and the dimension of mean and congruence is the core of Zhongyong, describing the value orientation of individual interactions with contexts. Based on frame of reference effect, further results indicated that Zhongyong explained more variance of Chinese employees’ helping behavior than collectivism, and Zhongyong is significantly related to collectivism when harmonyoriented environment is high rather than low.
