Abstract Charismatic leadership was argued in lots of research, however, we never clearly know whether it is beneficial to performance. Using Metaanalysis, we conducted a qualitative review on the literatures of the relationship between charismatic leadership and performance in individual, group, and organization level. A 12933 sample included in 53 valuable papers was selected through literature search, the analysis on which showed that: charismatic leadership is positively related to each level of performance; the relationship between charismatic leadership and organization performance is the highest, followed by group performance and individual performance ; the measurement of charismatic leadership and regional culture moderateds the relationship between charismatic leadership and individual performance. The direction of further studying charismatic leadership was discussed as well.
