Abstract The studies on the effect of technological diversification on corporate performance have been under the spotlight in recent years. Based on the resourcebased theory, this study explores how diversified technology has impact on corporate performance under the context of industry competitive interaction and environmental dynamism. An unbalanced panel data from 291 public companies listed on GEM in China was used to examine the developed hypotheses. The results indicate that technological diversification negatively influences corporate performance. And industry competitive interaction positively moderates the relationship between technological diversification and corporate performance, while environmental dynamism negatively moderates the relationship between technological diversification and corporate performance. Besides, there is a threeway interaction among environmental dynamism, industry competitive interaction, technological diversification with corporate performance as dependent variable. Environmental dynamism negatively moderates the positive moderating effect that industry competitive interaction has on the relationship between technological diversification and corporate performance. The study shows that the corporate should consider the dynamic characteristics of industry competitive interaction and environmental dynamism when making its technological diversification strategy choice.
