The Effects of Knowledge Exploitation, Knowledge Exploration and Ambidexterity on Outsourcing Project Performance:A Contingency Perspective

Abstract  Based on the context of offshore information technology outsourcing (ITO), this paper analyzes the effects of vendors' knowledge exploitation and knowledge exploration on project performance respectively, explores the effects of ambidexterity(balancing knowledge exploitation and knowledge exploration) on project performance, and examines the different effects of knowledge exploitation and knowledge exploration in different ITO model(Routine ITO and Novel ITO). We used 130 offshore ITO project data of Xi'an, Suzhou and Dalian to empirically test our hypothesis.
