Correlation between Peer Effects and eHealth Literacy in Older People

Abstract: Objective To explore the correlation between peer effect and eHealth literacy of older people, to provide pathway support for enhancing eHealth literacy of older people. Methods Literature analysis was used to review the current research on eHealth literacy among older people, and to analyze the relationship between peer effects and eHealth literacy among older people. Results The eHealth literacy is lacking in different groups of people in China, and the current situation of eHealth literacy among the elderly is particularly worrying, and the cohort effect has a positive effect on improving the eHealth literacy level of the elderly. Conclusion At present, China's research on the promotion of eHealth literacy among the elderly is still immature, and it is recommended that health education centres at all levels, community Health service institutions and hospitals should adopt a variety of forms to provide guidance and education to the elderly in the community, to enhance their ability to recognize false health information. At the same time, the government should strengthen the supervision of the content of various health information, monitor health-related public opinion dynamically, and help the elderly to distinguish false health information in a timely manner, and establish offline communities as well as online communities, so as to effectively help the elderly to improve their eHealth literacy level through both online and offline means.
