Abstract: Objective To explore the effect of happy sensation training group (HSTG) on negative emotion and suicide risk in patients with depression. Methods Using a prospective study method, 100 patients with depression who were admitted to the Sichuan Provincial Psychiatric Center from January to June 2021 were included and divided into a control group and an intervention group with 50 cases in each group by random number table method. The control group was given routine treatment and telephone follow-up,and the intervention group routine treatment and HSTG for 8 weeks. All the participants were measured at baseline, 2 and 8 weeks after the treatment respectively with Generalized Anxiety Disorder（GAD-7), Patient Health Questionnaire-9（PHQ-9）,Health Questionnaire-15（PHQ-15）and Evaluation of Suicide Risk Factors Questionnaire. Results Generalized estimating equation showed that interaction effect in terms of anxiety and depression was found 2 and 8 weeks after the intervention in the intervention group (95%CI:-5.547~-1.011,and -5.452~-1.107 respectively; 95%CI:-5.489~-0.651 and -5.667~-0.147 respectively). There was interaction effect in terms of somatic complaints 2 and 8 weeks after the intervention in the intervention group (95%CI:-5.006~-1.692, and -5.186~-0.209 respectively). The total score of suicide risk, and score of category I and category III showed interaction effect after 8-week intervention (95%CI:-7.335~-2.851, -6.305~-2.485 and -2.311~-1.084, respectively). The difference was statistically significant (P<0.01). Conclusion HSTG helps to alleviate negative emotion and reduce suicide risk in patients with depression.
