Health Information Acquisition Behavior of Patients with Interstitial Lung Disease：A Descriptive Qualitative Study

Abstract: Objective To explore the experience and influencing factors of health information acquisition behavior based on the comprehensive model of information seeking in patients with interstitial lung disease with diagnosis time ≥1 month and degree of dyspnea level of 1-4, and to provide a theoretical basis for targeted measures. Methods This was a descriptive qualitative study. Fourteen in-patients with interstitial lung disease were interviewed by behavioral event interview, and the results were analyzed by theme analysis method. Results Four themes were extracted from the health information acquisition behavior and influencing factors of patients with interstitial lung disease: information acquisition channels, disease-related threats, personal behavior related factors, social demographic background. Conclusion Patients′ attitude, reliable and diversified health information acquisition channels and the improvement of health knowledge education of clinical doctors and nurses are conducive to promoting health information acquisition behavior of patients with interstitial lung disease and the occurrence of behavior.
