Effects of Extended Service based on Information-motivation-behavioral Skills Model on Dietary Behavior of Home Peritoneal Dialysis Patients

Abstract: Objective To explore the influence of extended service based on information- motivation-behavioral skills model on dietary behavior of home peritoneal dialysis patients. Methods Extended service based on information-motivation-behavioral skills model was provided for 45 patients with peritoneal dialysis at home. The score of Renal Adherence Behavior Questionnaire (RABQ), daily protein intake, daily energy intake, salt limit adherence rate and water limit adherence rate before and after the extended service were compared. Results There were statistically significant differences in RABQ score, daily protein intake, daily energy intake, salt limit adherence rate and water limit adherence rate before and 6 months after the intervention(P<0.05). Conclusion Extended service based on information- motivation-behavioral skills model is beneficial to improving the dietary behavior of patients with peritoneal dialysis at home.
