Abstract This study selects six local suppliers as case study objects and analyzes the evolution mechanism of the power relationship in GVCs. The study finds that: ①The power relationship between local suppliers and dominant firms has gone through an evolutionary path from isolated power relationship to structural power relationship to distributed power relationship, and embodies a dynamic process from low-order to high-order; ②The governance actions of local suppliers are characterized by the dynamic evolution of “constrained governance participation-connected governance game-mutualized governance symbiosis”, which is the key source of the formation of power relationship in local suppliers; ③Knowledge governance and value governance, as strategic behaviors of GVCs governance, are important ways for local suppliers to achieve sustainable improvement of GVCs power.
