Abstract Based on the reality that China's economic and social development has achieved a historic breakthrough and challenges, this paper argues that the historical responsibility of Chinese management scholars is to find the law, explain the phenomenon and guide the practice. To achieve the historical mission of Chinese management scholars, the theory for management must to be integrated into the Chinese context, i.e. management should be practiceoriented. This is the first time to be put forward by Department of Management Sciences. The paper analyses the challenges which the Chinese management research is facing and proposes several topics which should be concerned. It finally looks forward the prospect of Chinese management research in the coming five to ten years.
