Abstract

This empirical study reveals that IT application maturity (ITAM) is significantly affected by enterprise management institutional capabilities (MIC) and process management capabilities (PMC). We discuss how the two key capabilities impact ITAM when the companies adopt the ISO, and effectively explain how ITAM changes as the ISO is a moderating variable. We found that the differences between Chinese and foreign enterprises are originated from the management methods and at the same time, we suggest that Chinese enterprises should learn more PMC from the foreign companies to improve, optimize firm’s process and strengthen MIC. What’s more, we should make full use of the IT technology to solidify those two capabilities and increase ITAM rapidly.

Key wordsIT application maturity      process management capability      management institutional capability      comparative analysis
