Abstract Nowadays, management studies in China exhibit the trend of onedimension. One-dimensional management research is manifested in four aspects, which are unidirectional standpoint, unidirectional research topic, unidirectional research route and unidirectional research method. One-dimensional management research may undermine the diversity and creativity of management research and destroy or mislead management practices. The paper argues that future studies should increase the diversity of standpoint, methods and topics. To reverse the one-dimensional trend, indigenous critical management studies can be introduced.
