Abstract Suggested are the hypothesizes of competitive pressures, strategic changes and performances, which are three variables of the conceptual modes. The structural relations among three variables were testified by using 607 samples collected from the typical industries of ten provinces in China and through structural equation model. It is concluded that ①macro economic momentums are much more critical actors in the process of the strategic change; ②there is clear and identified relationship between the strategic change and firm performances and ③the competitive pressures and strategic changes are important variables that would determine firms' performances ulatmatly.
