Abstract 107 researchers of MIS in Chinese universities were surveyed. Data show that university researchers are expected to withdraw from information systems development projects, and pay more attention to basic research. Research topics are more aligned to the international mainstream. Paying to basic research is related to the proportion of researchers' salary and benefits as a percentage of their overall income. It has no obvious effect on the researchers' researches to emphasize on the quality of the papers form citation-indexed journals or designated core journals. Internationalization, which was measured by overseas academic experiences and presence of expatriate Chinese scholars, influences research methods and shifting to empirical researches slightly. The underlying reasons were explored. Their implications and suggestions were also discussed.
