Abstract Through the interview and the investigation with managers of six Commercial Banks in China, this research studies the Competency Model of credit examining and approving managers in the commercial banks in China. Focusing on the group interview, BEI technology and multiple statistic method are employed to explore the competence model of credit examining and approving managers empirically. The questionnaires from the 485 managers are analyzed with exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) methods. The research formulates the structural model which consists of three competence module, which are analysis and inquiry, emendation and planning, identification and judgment and fifteen competence features.
