Abstract Drawing on the social-relational perspective of creativity, this study investigates the impact of employees’ self-verification striving on their creativity using two-wave, multi-source matched data from 657 members across 151 teams. The results indicate that, on the one hand, self-verification striving significantly enhances the quality of employees’ relationships with their supervisors (i.e., leader-member exchange), which in turn mediates the positive indirect effect of self-verification striving on employee creativity. On the other hand, self-verification striving also strengthens employees’ relationships with their coworkers (i.e., coworker friendliness); this improved peer relationship quality further serves as a pathway through which self-verification striving promotes employee creativity.
