Abstract We conducted a meta-analysis of 76 studies with a total sample size of 28 498 to examine the relationship between humble leadership and employee proactive behaviors (EPB for short), as well as contextual and methodological moderators of this link. The results revealed that humble leadership was significantly and positively related to EPB at both the individual and group levels. Cultural dimensions moderated the influence of humble leadership on EPB. In addition, organizational type, data source diversity, and research methods also moderated the humble leadership-EPB relationship. Future research should explore humble leadership’s differential effects across dimensions, identify situational specifics that strengthen or weaken its impact, and develop a nuanced conceptualization of employee proactivity.
