Abstract Based on trait activation theory, this study investigated the effect of career self-management on aesthetic labor of front-line employees in the service industry through statistical analysis of 589 valid questionnaires. The results show that: career self-management can significantly promote aesthetic labor of front-line employees in the service industry; Occupational embeddedness plays a partially mediating role in the relationship between career self-management and aesthetic labor of front-line employees in the service industry; Organizational career management not only positively moderates the relationship between occupational embeddedness and aesthetic labor, but also positively moderates the mediating role of occupational embeddedness between career self-management and aesthetic labor.
