Abstract Through the data collection and analysis of 335 enterprises that have undergone digital transformation and implemented business model innovation, this study explores the impact mechanism of digital technology affordability on enterprise business model innovation. The study found that: Digital technology accumulation affordability has a positive impact on incremental business model innovation and disruptive business model innovation, and digital technology variation affordability has a positive impact on disruptive business model innovation. Digital capabilities act as a complete mediator between digital variation affordability and incremental business model innovation, and digital capabilities act as a partial mediating role between digital technology accumulation affordability and incremental business model innovation, digital technology accumulation affordability and disruptive business model innovation, and digital variation affordability and disruptive business model innovation. What’s more, organizational courage positively moderates the relationship between digital variation affordability and digital capability.
