Abstract Based on an exploratory longitudinal case study of China Southern Airlines, this study explores the accelerated mechanism of latecomers in the emerging markets according to the theoretical logic of “internationalization motivation-network-resource orchestration-accelerated internationalization”, from a perspective of the integration of network and resource orchestration. The research finds that: internationalization motivation acts on accelerated internationalization through network and resource orchestration; in the light of internationalization motivation, the latecomers build a suitable network that mainly includes the loose network, centralized network, and focused network. They change from a single network to the coexistence of multiple networks, from path-dependent to intentionally managed networks. With the flexible adjustment of the network, the resource orchestration process changes, meanwhile, the total volume of resources increases gradually, and their distribution of types tends to be balanced.
