Abstract Based on the analysis of multiple cases in Wuling Mountain area, this study explored the interaction and the micro-operation mechanism among subsidiary initiative, innovation value chain and supply chain integration in the undeveloped areas of China. The results show that the different dimensions of innovation value chain and supply chain integration, and the different dimensions of subsidiary initiative are diverse in the micro-operation mechanism. Among them, idea generation, idea conversion and supplier integration form an interactive mechanism with subsidiary initiative through internal network embedding and external network embedding. Idea diffusion, customer integration and enterprise internal integration form an interactive mechanism with subsidiary initiative through internal network embedding. This study revealed the micro-operation mechanism among the subsidiary initiative, innovation value chain and the integration of supply chain, enriched the literature and research foundation of the subsidiary initiative, and effectively enhanced and expanded the theoretical research on the successful realization of secondary entrepreneurship by the subsidiary in the underdeveloped region.
