Abstract Strategic entrepreneurial behavior links the strategic logic and strategic results, hence, which is taken as the starting point of the research. Based on the coupling framework of efficiency mechanism and legitimacy mechanism, this study explore the selection mechanism of enterprise strategic entrepreneurial behavior from the two dimensions of technological competition and institutional status attainment. The study selects the Ant Financial Services Group as a sample and adopts the exploratory single case study method. The results show that: ①Strategic entrepreneurship follows both the logic of technological innovation and the logic of institutional status attainment, but there are differences in the dominant logic at different stages.②There are three interactive mechanisms between the two kinds of logic, which are mutual promotion, mutual restriction and symbiosis.③The value essence of strategic entrepreneurship lies in the promotion of technological potential energy and institutional potential energy.
