Abstract  Based on the theory of social emotional wealth and organizational identity, this study discusses the effect of family control on corporate charitable donation.Based on the data of Chinese listed companies from 2007 to 2019, the results show that family firms are more actively involved in charitable donation. When the enterprise is named after the family, the influence of family control on charitable donation will be strengthened. And the visibility of the enterprise plays a significant secondary regulatory role, specifically, the more enterprises invested in advertising activities, the more charitable donations will be made by the enterprises named after the family.
