Abstract Based on Social Identity Theory, this research explores the impact of internal and external CSR(corporate social responsibility) on employees’work meaningfulness in China by collecting the data from 521 employees from 12 enterprises in Hunan and Guangdong province. The results show that both internal and external CSR have a positive impact on employees’ work meaningfulness, and the impact of internal CSR on employees’ work meaningfulness is more significant and stronger. Besides, perceived organizational support is a partial mediator between internal CSR and work meaningfulness, while perceived organizational pride is a full mediator between external CSR and work meaningfulness. In addition, the inconsistency of internal and external CSR (external CSR>internal CSR) has a negative impact on employees’work meaningfulness.
