Abstract  By integrating and analyzing the literature, this study first proposes an integrated framework of imprinting by considering the two phases of imprinting generation and reproduction, as well as five elements including imprint sources, imprinted entities, sensitive periods, imprinting mechanisms and imprinting outcomes. Using this framework, we take stock of research on imprinting and entrepreneurship. Our review suggests that more research is in need in the areas including the interactions among multiple imprints, the dynamics within the lasting influences of imprint, and the political inquiry in the imprinting process and mechanism. Moreover, we offer insights into future research within the context of China’s transitional society.
